Bert Hick - President

Bert Hick founded Rising Tide Consultants Ltd. after serving 11 years with the British Columbia Government. Throughout Bert’s career with government, he held several key positions including the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat, Executive Director of the Cabinet Secretariat, Secretary to Cabinet under Premier William Bennett and General Manager of the BC Liquor Control and Licensing Branch. Bert believes in giving back to the community and is an active member of the Board of Directors with several not-for-profit groups in BC.

 

With over 24 years of liquor licensing experience, Bert is widely respected throughout British Columbia’s hospitality industry and at all levels of local and provincial government. Bert completed his graduate studies at the University of Victoria.

 

Christa Montpetit - Vice President Business & Licensing

Christa has extensive experience in the hospitality and tourism industries on an international level with a special focus on hotels and resorts. She has worked internationally, both in the position of Western Accounts Manager for Entertainment Publications, for British Columbia and Hawaii; and with 180 Solutions Inc., a company specializing in presenting international management retreats for small to medium sized Canadian businesses.

 

Christa works closely with local and provincial government licensing agencies as well as clients from all areas of the industry including retail wine and liquor store, hotels, restaurants, bars and community events. Her commitment to client satisfaction is a priority and manages a team of experts within Rising Tide Consultants.

 

Christa received her education from the University of North Dakota (U.S.A), Brandon University and Red River Community College in Manitoba majoring in Business. She has been with Rising Tide Consultants since March of 2008.

 

Susan Mander - Liquor Licensing Specialist

Susan brings an extensive administrative and legal background to Rising Tide Consultants while adding international appeal. Her roots lie on Australia’s Gold Coast while her work experience covers three continents.

 

Susan's legal background includes a management position at the Law Society of England and Wales and working as a legal secretary for the highly acclaimed Sydney, Australia office of Baker & McKenzie - the largest law firm in the world. In Vancouver, Susan has held positions in the BC Provincial Government as a Disposition Coordinator with the Ministry of the Attorney General, the BC Legal Services Society and has worked in several large downtown corporate law firms.

 

Susan has a thorough understanding of the legal procedures of BC liquor licensing and an in-depth knowledge of the application process. She has extensive experience working with all levels of government relating to liquor licensing. Susan joined the Rising Tide Consultants team in January 2007.

 

Shannon Malcolm - Liquor Licensing Specialist

Shannon brings an extensive legal background to Rising Tide Consultants. She has a strong background in supporting a legal team specializing in corporate law. She has a thorough understanding of the legal procedures of BC liquor licensing and in-depth knowledge of the applications process.

 

Shannon works with clients throughout British Columbia specializing in all aspects of liquor licensing including new applications, changes to existing applications and corporate requirements.

 

Shannon graduated with distinction from Kwantlen University with a Diploma in Legal Administrative Assistant and joined the team at Rising Tide Consultants in 2010.
